Staff Chat 9 - Absolutely Smurfticious

I was interested to hear the tally for the validations, although it's changed a lot since they recorded it. I love how LovlyRita's the only one who knows anything about the Princely Summer competition, and how much she complains about trying to catch up with the amazing Girldetective! [Go Ravenclaw!] There is one item mentioned in the PS talk that has me wondering... but I'm not sure I should really say it here... It has to do with the number 777. Is that for real?!
I like Alex's idea of taking a scale to the store to search for the DH set token.
I'll come back when I've listened to everything and have more to say.
Edit: I'm all for a live production of the Staff Chats. I'd be there!

I love the canned laughter, you should totally use that whenever someone makes a joke.
I laughed at the Phillips DVD thing about the swine flu - really what does a DVD thing have to do with the swine flu!
By the way, I had to mention that Andrina was much clearer and louder this time.
I loved the Smurfs as a kid, so I really enjoyed the whole smurf conversations, it brought back memories. Smurfs The Musical would be so cool lol.
I used to read Goosebumps too, so this was a very nostalgic podcast for me lol.
And don't cut out the randomness in the podcasts, the randomness is great!
I hired out Benjamin Button to watch tonight, so hopefully it will live up to its reviews. You've made me intrigued to watch Star Trek now, even though I am not a fan of the franchise.
Ariel dies! Noooooooooooooooooooo!
"Another HPFF podcast is in the can" "Yay" <- Do I win the challenge? lol

You know I should get around to reading those 'T-word' books one day, then I might have a clue what everyone is going on about when they're talking about them. I've been reluctant to read them because of the mixed reviews I've heard about them. But if Alex thinks they're not that bad, then perhaps I should give them a go. I did have to skip some of that conversation so as not to spoil the books for me when I do get around to reading them.
Well done Girldetective85 on your awesome validating skills! You can't distract her she is a total validating machine! Go Girldetective85, Ravenclaw is behind you!
In regards to 777, I'm hoping we will be finding out more soon, like where we can post a response?
The part about licking the book was just ewww.
Talking about box sets being expensive, I paid a fortune for my LotR box set, mainly because it was extended versions of the movies with bonus DVDs and collector's figures
(including Gollum and the two towers) I think it cost me a couple of hundred dollars.
Oh and in relation to using the scales to check which DVD has the token, reminded me of shaking the cereal boxes in the supermarket to try to tell which one has the prize
Is snitchsista really an extra at the Slytherin table? That would be so awesome!
A live podcast would be so cool, not that I could come watch since I live on the other side of the world.
You know, it is really weird how HBP has them wearing helmets for Quidditch when in the previous movies they haven't bothered. Maybe all those time Harry fell of his broom and nearly killed himself prompted the Hogwarts staff to implement better safety measures
OK, so I've now listened to the whole three hours (albeit in the wrong order) and I must say I didn't mind a bit about the length because the conversations were all so interesting and fun and since it's Saturday today I didn't have to worry about being anywhere, so I've just had it on in the background while doing other things on the computer and making lunch etc. It was a good idea to split into into two parts, even if I didn't realise it at first. Maybe there is some way to make it more obvious, although I don't know how...

The second episode is titled "...Part 2 of our three hour podcast". While in the introduction in the actual podcast, Alex says "This is part two"
Apart from telling people in the podcast that it's the second of two parts and putting it in the title, how else are we to let you guys know it's a 2 parter??!!

I was one of those people whose hearts broke upon hearing about what really happened to Ariel.
That Woot thing is now my favorite. For a second I thought Alex was making it up - it really does sound like the way he would advertise something! - but then I checked out the site, and it's true. They really do describe things that way.
Aww, I want a cricket keychain! I can think of a lot of times that would be useful!
I was another Goosebumps reader, and I always used to collect them - I think I read all the books in the whole series except one, because I couldn't find it anywhere. Then one day I looked at my whole shelf of Goosebumps books, and proceeded to pack them all away in a cardboard box. I have no idea what I did with said box.
The Potter Parody made me groan a little. Why, why?! That's all I have to say on that matter.
I burst out laughing at Alex during talk about "the T-word," because somehow, I knew what he was going to say, before he said it, both that he had read them and didn't completely hate them. I think my favorite part of that conversation was, "By the way, the previous seven minutes contain spoilers of the Twilight saga, particularly book four, so if you have not yet read the books, do not listen to the previous seven minutes."
I'm looking forward to number ten - and I won't mind another three hours in length, either! Although it might be a good idea to mention fanfiction. Just a thought.
Come to think of it, I should actually download some of these podcasts onto my MP3 or iPod sometime and listen to them on a long car trip, since I've got one coming up... I have no life, so I've listened to every single podcast sitting at my computer chair.
Edit: OH, I just remembered what I wanted to say in the first place! I think it's funny that they mentioned the Monty Python rabbit, when I just watched the movie for the first time a week ago.
And LovlyRita, some people do carry hot sauce with them. I know someone in my class that does. And sadly, people have drunk it straight from the bottle on dares. xD

Sorry Jay! I actually meant that as a joke. I know it was obvious, I was just a bit dumb to not realise (I'm tired and sick at the moment so my mind isn't the sharpest). Perhaps I should have used a smiley to indicate the joking nature of the comment ie:

I actually did check out a few of the sites mentioned during the podcast, lol. Don't think I will be spending that much for a sweater anytime soon, lol. But I would love one of those keychains!
When you discuss fanfiction on the next podcast, if you can, you should discuss collaborations on the site. Just a thought.
Loved it, can't wait for the next one!

Eek! The T-Word! Alex, how could you; 60:40! That is shameful! *shakes head*
It's true though, they aren't anything alike. I think people compare them because of the bursts of popularity they've created. The plots are completely different.
It isn't just health professional stuff, some of this is common knowledge. Plus SMeyer said all bodily fluids are replaced with venom so... no possibilities for reproduction. And major lol @ Renesmee, and the uber grossness of Jacob.
Nice disclaimer too, 7 minutes after the actual discussion begins.
I love Billy Mays; he is brilliant!
Yay for Girldetective! We love you, Jules!
Oh wow... girl voice... that was kind of scary...
Greater than evil; nice
Little random, but Alex should totally do voice over work. For movie trailers! *In A World...*
Aw, I have to go to bed, before I even finish! And apparently I used too many emoticons too...
I'll listen to the rest tomorrow, along with the second part! This was the first staff chat I listened to for HPFF, and I loved it! I'm downloading all the old ones and will be listening to them sometime this week as well. You guys are amazing. Beyond amazing. Just, concentrated awesome.
I have been converted to a fan!

I'm really glad you were there in the second half, Flissy, cause I had no idea what smurfs were untill you translated it
But what were the children's books you were talking about? I knew the Max und Moritz ones (they are awesome
I really loved this podcast, well there hasn't been a podcast that I didn't love. Though I have to admit that I didn't understand A LOT with all the references to american stuff that I had never heard off and couldn't google. Oh, and where are the show notes, I couldn't find them
Pity Rita got cut out, I hope the movie was good

Overall, the entire concept is great because one can gleam more of the staffers' personalities through this medium. Also, it proves that HPFF is a very dynamic archive and forum. Very nice format - the podcast website didn't ask me for personal info to get on it and it was easy to use and formatted in a concise manner. So great choice on that.
To promote it better, I suggest trying to get a few of us schmuck members involved somehow.
Great job - keep it up.

Speaking for myself, I think it would be great to get a few members on the podcast to ask the staff a few questions or maybe just join in the fun.
We have previously asked for you guys to submit, not just stories but your musings on the site or just some HP news.
Now the podcast is a little more prominent, maybe a few of you will send us YOUR podcasts for inclusion on our iTunes feed.
Thanks for your feedback.

Sadly, I am Podcast challenged but not forum challenged so much any more. I would be thrilled if someone put my Ask Lucius thread to the podcast. Who better to give advice than a dark wizard?

That is a great idea, a podcast where members send questions in and get them answered by a HP character.
Alex, are you reading this?
Sorry guys, back on topic. Just what did you think of Staff chat 9?

Hahaha! You talk about the T-word again! But that’s fun! I love the way there's a warning for spoilers that might already have been said.
Lol! The bleep!
Yay for GD85 and her awesome validating!
Lmao about the “Wreck this Journal”! I hope Alex doesn’t go and whack someone over the head with that!
OMG! That chemistry lesson fire-on-the-desk story was so hilarious! And the other chemistry stories were good too. Nothing ever (luckily) happened in any of my chemistry classes. But then we didn't do that much ourselves. Feels like our classes were mostly theory oriented.
Haha! It’s so funny how Flissy just appears suddenly without no warning and then after that, Alex says that by the way we have Flissy here and not LovlyRita anymore.
lol Now Alex is suddenly looking forward to the journal wrecking!
That was fun to listen to! Must listen to the second part too.
