I thought it was so cool that the podcast was availabe on the
very same day it was recorded! I actually started listening to it Saturday night, but it got too late, and I went to bed. I was actually just about to go to bed when someone said not to go away, because info on R-Pat was coming right up or something to that effect. So of course I stayed. But then I realized you were just talking about Twitter, so I left anyway. I then resumed listening on Sunday night, and I got all the way up until the part where you actually start to talk about the Robert Pattinson article, and I figured that would be a good place to stop again, just for symmetry or whatever. I finally finished listening to the podcast last night . . . I know, I know, it took me four days to get to the last 20 minutes or so. Oh well.
First off, since the health-food-store-employee side of me was screeching inside when no one knew what flax was, I thought I'd shed some light on it. It is not a type of wheat. I'm not sure what family of plants it belongs to (although the fibers are used to make linen), but you can sometimes find it in peoples' flowerbeds (ours, for instance). It's kind of tallish plant, with little purplish-blue flowers and very small leaves. Anyway, flax seed oil (also occasionally known as linseed oil) is a vegetarian source of Omega-3 essential fatty acids. Omega-3s are the reason why you hear advice to eat fish, because fish oil is another source of Omega-3s, which appear to have a variety of benefits in the body, primarily promoting heart health. Flax seeds can also be ground up into a meal, which is a great source of fiber. The meal can be sprinkled over food, stirred into applesauce or yogurt, and also used in baking. Flax seeds are brown (though there is a golden variety), and so the meal is light brownish color. That is most likely why the waffles were brownish.
Can you tell I've given that spiel before, or at least variations of it?
Regarding NaNo, all I can say is good luck to everyone who is participating . . . and I think you're all crazy.

I do think it's nice that a site dedicated to fanfiction does promote and encourage writing, though. Sounds like you all have fun. I hope the pajama party works out like you're all planning.
I feel bad for the real Harry Potter! Unless he changes his name, he's going to have to deal with comments for the rest of his life. I can see why people think he's joking, though. If I was taking down a special order at work or something and asked name and the person said, "Harry Potter," I'd be thinking, yeeeeeeaaaaahhhh right, buddy. And I'm Hermione Granger. It would be hard to take someone seriously if they said they were Harry Potter, you know? I can see how this would be a huge problem for him. And what if he fills out some important form (voter registration, tax forms, job applications, visa/passport), and he's rejected because someone thinks he's being a wise guy? What a hassle!
Harry Potter theme park . . . because we really need another theme park in this world. Ok, ok, I have to admit it. I would like to see a Harry Potter theme park, just to see what it's like. Probably not as great as it sounds, but I would want to know how/if they incorporate actual, relevant HP stuff in it. Maybe I missed this in the staff chat, but is there an actual Harry Potter theme park in the world that's already finished? If so, I wouldn't mind hearing about it in a future staff chat. (Hint, hint.)
R-Pat and H-Pot . . . I got a kick out of the nicknames! Maybe Real Harry Potter should start going by H-Pot! Anyway, I have to agree that R-Pat looks a bit strange now, but whatever. His choice. And, hey, why wouldn't he be happy to be a part of
Twilight? He's rich and famous forever--unless he screws up like a lot of celebrities seem to--in a way he never would have been through the HP movies. And while I didn't read the article or the second-hand information or whatever, I think it's a valid point about monotony. I don't think monotony is necessarily the right way to describe it, but the main HP actors, who are all about his age, are still all filming Harry Potter (though some have done another thing or two in between films), while he's gotten to move on with his career.
By the way, I want to thank Lisa MacKay for the regular prods to get back on topic and move along to the next thing. That's probably what kept this from being a three-hour podcast. I definitely enjoyed listening to this one.
